Trump Ordered to Pay $454 Million in Fraud Case
Judge Enters Default Judgment Against Former President
Trump Faces Deadline to Secure Bond or Risk Arrest
A New York judge on Friday formally ordered Donald Trump to pay $454 million in damages, including interest, for his role in a fraudulent business practices scheme.
The judgment, which was entered by default after Trump failed to respond to the lawsuit, stems from a 2018 lawsuit filed by the New York Attorney General's Office.
The lawsuit alleged that Trump and his three eldest children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, misled investors in a series of real estate ventures.
The judge has set a deadline for Trump to secure a bond of more than $464 million to stay the execution of the judgment.
If Trump fails to secure the bond, he could face arrest and imprisonment.
