Current Presenter Victoria Derbyshire Set To Become Joint Lead Presenter

Current presenter Victoria Derbyshire set to become joint lead presenter

Jon Kay will become the new regular presenter on BBC Breakfast from Monday to Wednesday effective immediately. Victoria Derbyshire will become joint lead presenter on the show, alongside Kay and current presenter Sally Nugent.

Kay has been a familiar face to many viewers thanks to his role hosting the show with Nugent in recent years. However, he has recently been absent from the program amid a presenter shake-up that has seen a number of changes to the BBC Breakfast team.

In a statement released today, the BBC said that Kay's new role will see him "presenting a mix of news, sport, business and weather each morning." Derbyshire, who currently presents her own show on BBC Two, will join Kay and Nugent on the sofa from Monday onwards.

The BBC's director of news and current affairs, Fran Unsworth, said: "I'm delighted that Jon and Victoria are joining the BBC Breakfast team. They are both exceptional journalists and presenters, and I'm confident that they will bring their own unique style and expertise to the show."

Kay said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the BBC Breakfast team. It's a privilege to be part of such a prestigious program, and I'm looking forward to working with Sally, Victoria and the rest of the team to deliver the best possible news service to our viewers."

Derbyshire said: "I'm so excited to be joining the BBC Breakfast team. It's a show that I've always admired, and I can't wait to get started. I'm looking forward to working with Jon, Sally and the rest of the team to bring viewers the latest news and stories from around the world."

The changes to the BBC Breakfast team come as the program celebrates its 40th anniversary. The show first aired in 1983, and has since become one of the most popular news programs in the UK.
