A Russian Machine On Top Of The World

Islam Makhachev: The Most Dangerous UFC Lightweight Champion

A Russian Machine on Top of the World

In perhaps the most dangerous bout of his reign as UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev lived up to his title as the promotion's most dominant grappler. The Russian submission specialist put on a grappling clinic against Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC featherweight champion, at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.

Makhachev dominated Volkanovski from the opening bell, taking him down at will and threatening with submissions throughout the fight. He eventually secured a rear-naked choke in the second round, forcing Volkanovski to tap out and hand Makhachev his 12th straight win.

A Grappling Masterclass

Makhachev's performance against Volkanovski was a masterclass in grappling. He showcased his incredible strength, technique, and cardio, controlling the champion on the ground and preventing him from getting back to his feet.

Makhachev's win over Volkanovski further solidified his status as the UFC's most dangerous lightweight champion. He is now undefeated in the promotion and has shown no signs of slowing down.

With his latest victory, Makhachev has set his sights on unifying the lightweight division. He is expected to face Beneil Dariush, the No. 1 contender, in his next title defense later this year.
