The Celtics took a 3-2 lead in the series after winning Game 5 in Miami. However, the Heat won Game 6 in Boston to force a Game 7.
In Game 7, the Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. The Heat cut the lead to two points with just over two minutes remaining, but the Celtics held on for the victory.
The Celtics' victory is their first NBA championship since 2008. It is also the franchise's first championship since the departure of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen in 2013.
